Hit the hill

The NCISS Board of Directors meets in person twice a year. At least once a year, NCISS Board of Directors coordinates their meeting with the Hit the Hill event in Washington, DC. During this critical three-to-four-day event, NCISS conducts its board meeting, annual membership meeting, board elections, and continuing education seminars. 

NCISS also coordinates the visits of our members to their United States Senators and Representatives to advocate for the profession’s interests. Training and education of the issues is conducted by our DC lobbyist in connection with our legislative committee. Then, members visit their representatives to make connections and represent the Council. NCISS also holds a luncheon inside the Capitol building. NCISS coordinates other social events to meet representatives, staff, and other connections throughout DC. Networking is a big part of the event and a great way to meet friends and professionals throughout the United States. Finally, NCISS closes with a gala banquet with the swearing in of incoming officers and directors. During the gala banquet, NCISS honors those who have served with distinction with awards and commendations.

Hit the Hill is one of the most important, and effective, events for members to share with Senators and Representatives what most impacts our professions. NCISS encourages all members, including prospective members, to join us in Washington, D.C. for our next Hit the Hill!
